Course Description

IFSTL in collaboration with FDA/CFSAN will hold a hands-on training in Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS). The course will consist of lectures on WGS, to include a comparison on the different technologies, overview of FDA's Genome Trakr and trouble shooting. Participants will be guided in laboratory exercises by subject matter experts from the FDA using Illumina's MiSeq.

Course Objectives

Participants will:

  • Understand Illumina Nextera XT Sample Preparation.
  • Understand how to interpret a good run vs a bad run.
  • Generate and understand how to interpret sequence file formatting.

Who Should Attend?

This course is targeted for persons interested in whole genome sequencing using the Illumina MiSeq, specifically, State Public Health Laboratory Professionals, Government Laboratories, and Genome Trakr Laboratories. Special consideration will be given to GenomeTrakr labs.
