IFSTL teaching chemical analysis of dietary supplements with MUIH

IMG_0344Dietary supplements are manufactured under GMP requirements that include an appropriate test to verify the identity of botanical ingredients. In this half-day class, students will learn and practice thin layer chromatography and HPLC-PDA analyses with botanicals samples.

This course is only one activity of a partnership between the IFSTL (a program of the Joint Institute for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition) at the University of Maryland and the Maryland University of Integrative Health (MUIH) aiming to synergistically combine the teaching in medicinal herbalism at MUIH and analytical capabilities of the IFSTL to provide students a complete program of learning compatible with industry requirements.
