Laboratory capacity building is a critical need in Asia to ensure food safety around the globe.

Food Industry Asia (FIA) has launched a partnership with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the GMS Working Group on Agriculture (GMS WGA) to facilitate multi-stakeholder dialogue around challenges and opportunities for increasing safety and sustainability standards across food systems and products in the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS). JIFSAN and its International Food Safety Training Laboratory (IFSTL) are supporting the effort, contributing to laboratory training in methods to ensure the safety of food. A train-the-trainer session is at the planning stage for delivery in December 2017.
